WHAT WE BELIEVE
The following statements are fundamental doctrinal beliefs of Nuevo Amanecer Church. The outlined truths are not a complete list of all biblical truth, but intended simply as a basis of mutual understanding among us.
GOD
We believe in one true God existing eternally in Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This one true God exists forever and has revealed Himself as the creator of heaven and earth and the redeemer of mankind. Each of these three persons is fully and equally God, but are distinct in terms of their eternal relationships and roles.
Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 43:10-11, Matthew 28:19, Luke 3:22
BIBLE
We believe God wrote the Bible through men without error.
The Bible is God’s Word and is completely true. The scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to mankind; the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and life.
2 Timothy 3;15-17, 1 Thessalonians 2:13, 2 Peter1:21
JESUS
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who became a man, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on a cross, was buried, and rose bodily from the grave, ascended into heaven to redeem sinful people. Jesus is completely God and completely man and eternally existed with the Father and was not created. His perfect life and death on the cross provide the only atonement that satisfies the righteous requirements of God the Father for sinful people. Jesus’ resurrection from the dead testifies powerfully to His deity, and is itself humanity’s ultimate hope.
Matthew 1:23, Hebrews 7:26, Acts 10:38, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Matthew 28:6, Hebrews 1:1-
HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the supernatural agent who applies salvation to sinful people, renewing and keeping them until the day of Christ’s return. God the Holy Spirit, eternally equal with the Father and the Son, brings repentance and faith to sinful people through the testimony of Jesus. He lives in believers and gives them assurance of salvation. Christ baptizes all Christians with the Holy Spirit, thus incorporating them into the body of Christ, and the Spirit gives gifts to them and unites them for service within the church.
Romans 8:16, Ephesians 4:23-24, John 3:6, Galatians 5:22
MANKIND
We believe God created all people in his image as uniquely male and female. All people are created in God’s image; therefore all human life is sacred, from conception to natural death. In creating people as male and female, God communicated His image in complementary relationships, equality of personhood and importance, and a distinction in role and authority. Gender is a fundamental part of human existence, with maleness and femaleness being an unchangeable and consistent characteristic as established by God’s creational intent. Heterosexual monogamous marriage is God’s design for men and women called to covenant together in matrimony. Same-sex behavior and attraction, and gender identity confusion, in all its expressions, are a result of the fall to be redeemed through the Gospel and the power of the Holy Spirit.
Genesis 1:26-27, Genesis 9:6, James 1:18, Ephesians 5:21-26
SALVATION
We believe all people are sinful and in need of salvation. Salvation is the gift of God brought to sinful people by grace alone, and received by repentance and personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. True Christians will be kept by God’s power forever. God created the first man and woman, Adam and Eve, without sin, but they chose to disobey Him, bringing a sinful nature to all humanity. Now all mankind are born with a sinful nature and separated from God. The only solution is the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and the only way to receive salvation is through repentance from sin and faith in Him. The Spirit’s work of renewal removes the old nature and creates a new nature that loves to please God. Salvation also includes adoption as sons and daughters into the family of God forever. All genuine believers will remain Christians throughout their entire life, being protected by the power of God through faith. Such perseverance, a mighty work of God, brings the assurance of salvation.
Romans 10:9-10, 1 Corinthians 15:20-23
CHURCH
We believe the Church is both local and universal. The universal Church, or Body of Christ, consists of all Christians in all times and in all places. The mission is to share the Gospel, the good news of Jesus, to all nations, making disciples of Jesus. The local church is a self-governed body of believers in Christ that gather together for worship, instruction, service, fellowship, mission, and celebration of the ordinances. As a local church, Nuevo Amanecer embraces the historical and sound traditions of the universal Church. Baptism of believers by immersion and the Lord’s Supper are the only two ordinances to be observed by the local church in the present age. These ordinances are not to be regarded as means of salvation. Nuevo Amanecer Church is a Baptist Church, we are proud of our Southern Baptist Theological Foundation, and our association with the Kentucky Baptist Convention.
Ephesians 1:22-23, Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 2:41-42
END TIMES
We believe that Jesus will return to earth to reign, conquer and judge. At Christ’s return, all believers will rise (first resurrection), defeat the anti-christ and false prophet (armageddon) and reign with Christ for a thousand years. Believers will be judged before the Judgement seat of Christ (bēma), not for salvation, for rewards. At the end of the millennium, the devil will be defeated (Gog Magog), the second resurrection will take place (unbelievers) and all will face the Great White Throne Judgement, where books will be opened including the Lamb’s book of Life. All people will give account of their lives before God. Believers in Christ will be resurrected to everlasting blessedness and joy in the presence of God. Unbelievers will be resurrected to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment. The ultimate hope of all creation, and the final state of all that now exists, is the New Heavens and New Earth in which righteousness reigns because God will dwell with His people.
